Alchemy of Garlic: Food as Medicine Workshop - November 7th at 1:00pm

Regular price $95.00 Sale

There’s magic in a garlic clove.

Join us at The Green Goddess Studio for a hands-on afternoon devoted to one of the oldest and most beloved plants in the kitchen apothecary: garlic.

Together, we’ll explore garlic’s rich history as both food and traditional medicine, its folklore, chemistry, herbal energetics, and the many ways this humble kitchen staple has been prepared and preserved for generations.

Using garlic grown right here on our Northern Alberta acreage, you’ll create three generous small-batch preparations to take home:

Lacto-Fermented Garlic — whole garlic cloves preserved through traditional lactic-acid fermentation, creating a tangy, deeply flavoured ferment to enjoy in your everyday cooking.

Fermented Honey Garlic — raw garlic submerged in honey and slowly fermented into a sweet, savoury and wonderfully pungent kitchen-apothecary staple.

Fresh Savoury Garlic Spread — a flavour-packed blend of fresh garlic, herbs, olive oil and nutritional yeast, delicious spread on bread or added to pasta, roasted vegetables and countless savoury dishes.

Along the way, we’ll talk about the fascinating chemistry that gives garlic its unmistakable aroma and flavour, traditional uses of garlic throughout history, the fundamentals of fermentation, and important food-safety practices for preparing and storing garlic at home.

Expect plenty of chopping, stirring, tasting and conversation as we transform one extraordinary plant into three completely different preparations — and discover just how versatile garlic can be.
