Each participant will sample a smorgasbord of various handcrafted shrubs made from the bounty of summertime fruits and herbs while learning about their historical and traditional use as food and medicine.
Shrubs are seeing a resurgence in popularity, honouring an old-style method of preserving fruits and herbs before refrigeration was available. They are absolutely delicious and make a wonderful substitution for soda, and can be added to fizzy water, mocktails, cocktails, and foods for colour, flavour, and medicinal value.
Each participant will make and take home a 500ml jar of shrub made with local fruits and herbs.
